Drive belts differ not only in length and width, but also in height, angle, choice of material and structure. These characteristics are decisive for the respective area of application. Each belt is precisely matched to a specific vehicle and a specific transmission ratio. Please therefore rely on the belt designation assigned by the manufacturer or dealer. This is the only way to ensure that the belt fits perfectly and works reliably.

Technical explanation
When selecting a variomatic drive belt, not only width × length plays a role, but also

- the angle of the belt profile

- the thickness (height of the belt)

- the height and shape of the teeth

Even small differences can be decisive.
Example: Two belts can have identical length and width, but differ in angle by 4 degrees. These belts are not compatible because the belt does not fit perfectly. This leads to increased wear, loss of power and impaired function.

The use of different materials and structures responds specifically to different requirements:

- higher heat resistance

- better slip resistance

- Optimized lateral pressure stability

- longer service life

Differences in measuring methods
Belt manufacturers often measure differently, so the dimensions also vary:

- Inner length - measured on the inside of the belt

- Tension cord - load-bearing element that ensures dimensional stability and prevents the belt from stretching

- Outer length - measured around the outer circumference of the belt

- Reference or center line - measured approximately in the middle of the belt thickness

These differences often lead to confusion among customers, especially when they have to choose between different belts with different specifications. Customers often measure their installed belts and are disillusioned to find that the specified dimensions do not match. Many manufacturers therefore do not specify the dimensions at all.
